Defendants did not have a warrant for his arrest and lacked probable cause or reasonable suspicion that Plaintiff committed a crime. \n\nDefendants brought Plaintiff back to the 47th Precinct and interrogated Plaintiff about a fight that ended in an individual's death. Plaintiff at all times denied being involved in the fight and informed Defendant officers that he was a bystander who intervened to break up the fight and did not play a role in the individual's death. Video footage clearly reflected Plaintiff's assertions, and Defendant Officers had a statement from the victim before his death, clearly identifying the attacker from the video. The victim did not identify Plaintiff as the attacker. Despite this, Defendant Simpson arrested and charged Plaintiff with murder and other related charges. \n\nPlaintiff was incarcerated for four and a half months and then put on trial. The Grand Jury concluded Plaintiff had not committed any crime and issued a “No True Bill.” On August 28, 2020 all charges against Plaintiff were dismissed and sealed.","documents":[{"url":"https://web.archive.org/web/20240630120328/https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=WVZ_PLUS_z1shnFk5Z9xTlWWDTg==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Roundtree, My'asha vs City of Ny, et al.","start_date":"2021-09-22","payout_amount":0,"disposition":"","docket":"811870/2021E","court":"Supreme Court - Bronx","summary":"On May 26, 2020, Plaintiff My'Asha Roundtree's apartment was entered by Defendant NYPD Police Officers without a warrant seeking to arrest Plaintiff over allegations of misdemeanor assault.
