Greene stabbed Lorenzo repeatedly and Lorenzo fired a handgun at both Greene and Muronyi, striking Muronyi and causing his death. \n\nThe defendants (NYPD police officers) received information about the attack and its perpetrators, that should have made it clear that Plaintiff Arroyo was not the perpetrator. Nevertheless, Plaintiff was arrested in his home after Defendant Monteverde and other officers unlawfully entered without a warrant, even though he did not match the description that had been described by Greene. Then, false information was provided to Defendant Keating saying that Mutonyi had died of a stab wound, although he had died of a gun wound. Defendant Keating then unlawfully coerced the Plaintiff into confessing to stabbing Mutonyi; that coerced confession would become the only evidence against Plaintiff at trial. Defendant Monteverde continued to fabricate information to indict Plaintiff. Plaintiff was also placed in a lineup by Defendant Cermenello, where Greene could not identify him.  \n\nUltimately, Defendants Monteverde and Keating made many false statements at trial and withheld exculpatory evidence. Defendant Gilbert omitted information about other individuals who had been identified as the perpetrators of the crime, and evidence about the arrest itself was altered. Plaintiff Arroyo was sentenced to 20 years for this murder and several consecutive sentences of 10 years for attempted robbery.
