Plaintiff was shopping for flowers outside the market, having given his credit card to the Market employee inside. Without explanation, the POs rear-handcuffed placement and placed him in a nearby police car. When plaintiff asked why he was being detained, the POs refused to explain. While plaintiff was detained in the car, the Market employee informed the POs that Plaintiff had not done anything wrong. The POs took possession of Plaintiff's credit card from the Market employee and took Plaintiff to a precinct holding cell. When Plaintiff asked another unknown PO present at the precinct holding cell why he was being detained, the PO told him to \"shut up\" and proceeded to use his fists to strike the plaintiff about the head and body. The PO also confiscated the Plaintiff's attorney business card so Plaintiff could not call his lawyer.\nPlaintiff was brought before the court on false charges based on false sworn allegations of PO Pappalardo. Plaintiff was eventually released; he was in custody for 18 hours. While in custody, he developed a serious chest infection, which required him to take time off of work.
