The supervisor of those officers, Detective Sandra Richards, was looking to seize certain jewelry legally held as collateral. Plaintiff was a duly employed manager of Church Pawn. Detective Richard, claiming to be a police officer, demanded Plaintiff to turn over such jewelry. Plaintiff requested to see identification, to which the NYPD officers refused. Plaintiff inquired whether the NYPD officers had a warrant, to which Detective Richard replied that they neither had a warrant nor needed one. Plaintiff replied that he did not have authority to release property of Church Pawn without a warrant. The NYPD officers proceeded to arrest Plaintiff, as a consequence of which he was incarcerated for approximately two days.
