Specifically, PO Powell placed his hand in Plaintiff's pocket and removed a legal utility knife, which was not a gravity knife and not illegal in any way. POs then unlawfully placed Plaintiff under arrest and handcuffed his arms tightly behind his back. Plaintiff was taken to a nearby precinct, confined in a holding cell for several hours, and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Plaintiff could not have committed that crime because utility knifes cannot and do not meet the statutory definition of gravity knives. \n\nPOs Powell and/or John Doe 1-10 filed misleading police reports that falsely stated Plaintiff possessed a gravity knife, causing a malicious prosecution to be initiated. Plaintiff was compelled to return to court approximately two times before all charges against him were adjourned in contemplation of dismissal on or about August 17, 2018. The incident forced Plaintiff to miss work and suffer loss of liberty, physical injuries, and deprivation of his constitutional rights.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=b1qCrpuucHqo9bDd2Ij8mw==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Ramirez, Richard vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2016-06-10","disposition_date":"2019-03-29","payout_amount":85001,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"16CV04174","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","officer_name":"Powell, Dwight","summary":"The plaintiff got a ride home from a livery car driver from a friend's apartment to his own apartment.
