The night before, a man walked up to another man in front of a bar and slashed him in the face, causing a laceration. The victim bled profusely. Witnesses said the incident happened quickly and the perpetrator wore a hoodie, blocking them from seeing his face, but were able to give a general description. He fled towards Houston St and the victim’s friend chased him. Police responded and found a man in a subway station who matched the suspect's description with blood on his shirt. Police did not search or question him about the source of the blood, and released him without doing a show up. Police saw King in the subway station. His height and clothing did not match the suspect’s, he had a walker when no witness described the perpetrator having a walker, and King had no blood on him. Police detained King, then Brinkley arrested him despite overall lack of evidence against him. Defendants charged and caused King to be prosecuted. Defendants misrepresented facts to the DA and Grand Jury. Unable to make bail, King was incarcerated. On August 9, 2021, King was released, after spending 2 years, 9 months, and 23 days incarcerated. On October 26, 2022, King was acquitted.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=/lER3beHs1NnXDtQz87Brg==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Johnson, Hasan vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2015-08-04","disposition_date":"2016-05-24","payout_amount":35000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"157863/2015","court":"Supreme Court - New York","officer_name":"Faiclough, Kristen E.","summary":"On June 29, 2014, Plaintiff was in the lobby of his girlfriend and mother's apartment building when NYPD members approached him, tackled him to the ground, tasered him, choked him, and assaulted him with a baton and otherwise.
