Tony went to the 60th Precinct to give a statement to the police and Sharrif accompanied him for support. Concurrently, detectives received detailed descriptions of the likely killers from witnesses. The descriptions did not match Sharrif or Tony. At some point on June 18, Tony was interviewed by Detectives Robert Izzo and Arthur Williams, while a rotating group of detectives interviewed Sharrif. They told the same story, which involved them spending the previous night socializing in the West Village and Prospect Park, and noted their lack of knowledge about the murders. Detectives Grimaldi, DeCarlo, and McMahon proceeded to fabricate and coerce a false oral confession from Sharrif, who had barely slept the prior night; they later claimed he had lied and told them he was 17 years old, rather than 15, which would permit their interrogation. They slapped Sharrif repeatedly and intimidated him. They fed him nonpublic facts to make his \"confession\" credible. \n\nDetectives Grimaldi, McMahon, DeCarlo, Williams, and others later coerced Tony into signing a false confession. They called him a \"faggot\" and a \"crack baby\" and struck him across the head and face. They never informed him of his Miranda rights. \n\nAt 11:19 p.m. on June 18, in an interview conducted by ADA Gray, but coerced by Detectives Grimaldi and McMahon who were in the room at all times, Sharrif was forced to provide a false videotaped confession. The confession included accounts of facts about the crime that were inaccurate but that were the detective's understanding at the time. \n\nOn June 19, 1992, Dr. Jonathan Arden conducted autopsies of the three murder victims and fabricated a knowingly false medical opinion regarding time of death following a conversation with Detective Grimaldi regarding Sharrif and Tony's supposed confessions. \n\nAt trial, the false, involuntary, police-manipulated, and fabricated oral and videotaped confessions, along with false police testimony regarding how they were elicited, were the only pieces of evidence presented against Sharrif. He was found guilty on three counts of second degree murder on January 19, 1994. \n\nIn late 2012, numerous items of physical evidence collected from the crime scene were made available for DNA testing. Upon testing, it conclusively proved that Sharrif and Tony were both innocent. In 2014, their convictions were vacated and their indictments dismissed. They had been tied up, stabbed, and garroted with electrical cords. Plaintiff immediately reported the crime and went to the precinct to assist the investigation. Instead of trying to solve the case, Detectives at the 60th Precinct falsely accused Plaintiff and his friend, Sharrif Wilson, of killing the three people. Officers, led by Lt. James Luongo, coerced Sharrif into falsely confessing on videotape and manipulated Plaintiff into signing his name to a false account of the incident written out by detectives. During the planned interrogations, officers called Plaintiff a “faggot”, struck Plaintiff on the head, slapped Plaintiff,  grabbed Plaintiff by his clothing, and threatened to “blow his brains out” if he didn’t make a statement. \nAs a result, Plaintiff spent the next 21 years, 7 months and 19 days of his life in custody for a crime he did not commit. No evidence other than the coerced testimonies ever linked Plaintiff to the murders.
