Mr. Thomas exited the cab and was pursued on foot by Officer Ingenito and in a vehicle by Officer Smith. The officers allegedly threatened to shoot him, slammed him to the ground, and subjected him to excessive physical force, including punching and kicking him, while making taunting remarks. Mr. Thomas was placed in a police vehicle, which was driven recklessly, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. Afterward, the officers allegedly continued to assault him. Mr. Thomas sustained multiple injuries, including a broken wrist and bruises, and was falsely charged with criminal offenses. He was detained and later transported to Rikers Island.
