They had been tied up, stabbed, and garroted with electrical cords. Plaintiff immediately reported the crime and went to the precinct to assist the investigation. Instead of trying to solve the case, Detectives at the 60th Precinct falsely accused Plaintiff and his friend, Sharrif Wilson, of killing the three people. Officers, led by Lt. James Luongo, coerced Sharrif into falsely confessing on videotape and manipulated Plaintiff into signing his name to a false account of the incident written out by detectives. During the planned interrogations, officers called Plaintiff a “faggot”, struck Plaintiff on the head, slapped Plaintiff, grabbed Plaintiff by his clothing, and threatened to “blow his brains out” if he didn’t make a statement. \nAs a result, Plaintiff spent the next 21 years, 7 months and 19 days of his life in custody for a crime he did not commit. No evidence other than the coerced testimonies ever linked Plaintiff to the murders. On February 6, 2014, DNA evidence was discovered that freed Plaintiff.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nyed.365740/gov.uscourts.nyed.365740.12.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/16093361/yarbough-v-city-of-new-york/"},{"name":"King v.
