Mr. Sterling was parked and siting in his rental car when the defendants arrived in two unmarked police vehicles. After conversing with an individual across the street, the defendants approached Mr. Sterling's vehicle, commanding him to exit. They proceeded to search the vehicle without probable cause or reasonable suspicion that a crime had been committed.. Shortly thereafter, the defendants handcuffed Mr. Sterling in an excessively tight fashion, causing him severe pain.\n\nThe defendants transported Mr. Sterling to the 75th Precinct, where he was processed and placed in a holding cell. While Mr. Sterling was in unlawful custody, the defendants knowingly provided false information to the Kings County District Attorney's office, lading to Mr. Sterling being charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
