During the conversation, a drink in Plaintiff’s hand was knocked over. Officer Thompson became angry, told Plaintiff to “come clean this shit up,” then grabbed his arms, slammed him onto the sidewalk, and dragged him several feet. While Plaintiff raised his hands to signal that he was not resisting, Officer Thompson yelled at him, “Do you know who I am? I’m from Brownsville. I will fuck your ass up.” As Plaintiff got up and started to walk away, Officer Thompson grabbed him again, bashed him into the metal gates of a store, and violently threatened him not to report or tell anyone about what had happened. During this time, Officer Alegre stood by and did nothing. Later that day, Plaintiff was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe eye damage, facial trauma, and a concussion. The incident was reported to the hospital staff, the Civilian Complaint Review Board, the Internal Affairs Bureau, and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.\n\nFollowing this incident, Plaintiff Emily Rodriguez, Plaintiff Crespo's mother, was informed by friends and neighbors that Officer Thompson was seeking out her son because he had “snitched” on him. She was also told that Officer Joelee Cummings was involved, intending to make Plaintiff Crespo’s life difficult until he dismissed the complaint. On July 9, 2017, Officer Thompson saw Plaintiff Crespo on the street, yelled, “You’re going to shit on my name? You’re really going to shit on my name?” then put Plaintiff in a headlock, punched him in the face, head, stomach, side, and back, and screamed, “Why you snitching? Why you lying? Why you talking shit?” He then pressed a gun against Plaintiff’s body and yelled, “You know what I should do to you? I should fucking kill you. I will fucking end you right now.” When bystanders attempted to intervene and remove Officer Thompson, he pointed his gun at them and threatened to shoot.\n\nOn July 12, 2017, Plaintiff Crespo noticed Officer Thompson standing around the corner of his home. Officer Thompson approached, claiming to offer an apology, but Plaintiff was frightened due to Officer Thompson’s previous actions. On the same day, Officer Cummings, Officer Thompson's partner, made comments to Plaintiff Crespo’s neighbors about him being a “snitch” and untrustworthy. Officer Cummings also stared at, intimidated, and harassed Plaintiff Crespo, and threatened, arrested, and intimidated Plaintiff Crespo's friends over several days. On July 14, 2017, Officer Thompson attempted to bribe Plaintiff Crespo with a “bottle of Hennessy” and a “hookah” to drop the complaints. Plaintiff ran away from him in fear and declined the bribe. As a result of Defendants’ actions, Plaintiffs were afraid to leave their home for several days and had to apply for a housing transfer.
