Alhanafi was properly driving her car near W 145 st. and 7th Ave. of Manhattan when she was pulled over by the police officers. Upon providing them her driver's license, the police officers falsely accused Alhanafi of suspended license and forged license plate. Alhanafi explained legitimacy of both her license and the license plates but was ignored. When she stepped out of the vehicle upon the officers' request, she was surrounded by the officers and was touched by Khan without Alhanafi's consent. Alhanafi asked for a female officer instead, but instead of accepting the request, Khan became increasingly aggressive and threw Khan to the ground. The officers continued to physically and verbally harass Alhanafi including by choking Alhanafi with knee and calling her with a derogatory term. As a result, Alhanafi suffered physical injuries on multiple parts of her body and mental anguish and was deprived of her liberty. Alhanafi asked for medical treatment, but was denied. Khan in the meantime continued to prosecute Alhanafi's case despite knowing the lack of basis of the case: there was no justifiable cause to stop, arrest, and use the described level of force Alhanafi. Despite being denied a fair trial by Khan's forged evidence, Alhanafi had charges against her ultimately dismissed.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=LFgdx9s9kiB7Lffjwp3RHA==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Scott, Alvin, et al. vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2020-02-11","payout_amount":0,"disposition":"","docket":"150184/2020","court":"Supreme Court - New York","officer_name":"Cekic, Denis","summary":"On October 12, 2018 at approximately 3:00 AM, at 310 W.143rd Street, Apartment 19I, in the borough of Manhattan, plaintiffs were at one of the plaintiff's apartment, along with five other friends, when police officer Denis Cekic and unidentified police officers (John and Jane Doe 1-12) arrived.
