Cunningham had voluntarily come to the 70th NYPD Precinct to file a complaint against her neighbor after she had argued with him the night before. At the precinct, Defendants contorted Cunningham's arms before tightly handcuffing her. Cunningham suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, exacerbating the pain from the tight handcuffs. Defendants ignored or outright refused her requests to loosen the handcuffs. Defendants then, with no probable cause, illegally searched Cunningham's person and put her in a cell, ignoring her questions on why she was being arrested and detained. Cunningham was moved to Kings County Central Booking where she was criminally processed and left in dirty cell until she was released two days later, on or about July 15, 2021.
