After the baby shower was over, Plaintiff called a Lyft and stood outside the apartment building with her sister and friends to wait for her ride to arrive. Upon his arrival, the Lyft driver got out of his vehicle to take the plaintiff’s bag and put it in the trunk. The driver forgot to put his vehicle in park, and the vehicle began rolling\ntoward the plaintiff’s pregnant sister. One of the friends saw what was happening and was able to jump in and put the vehicle in park before anyone got hurt. Police, including Defendants, showed up to the scene. Upon their arrival, Defendant Police Officers began to arrest Plaintiff’s mother. Plaintiff asked the officers why they were arresting her mother, as she had done nothing wrong. Defendant Police Officers tackled Plaintiff and body slammed her to the ground and began punching her as they unlawfully arrested and placed her in metal handcuffs. Plaintiff did not resist arrest and was then searched by Defendants Police Officers before being transported to the 90th Precinct police station against her will, where defendant officers unlawfully fingerprinted, photographed, and detained the plaintiff\nin a holding cell. Plaintiff was thereafter taken to Woodhull Medical Center to be treated for the injuries inflicted upon her by Defendant Police Officers, which included a concussion and an injured back. After her release from the hospital, Defendant Police Officers transported Plaintiff to Kings County Central Bookings, where she was again fingerprinted, photographed, and detained in a holding cell. Defendant Police Officers falsely stated to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office that Plaintiff was engaged in Obstructing Governmental Administration. After approximately 72 hours in unlawful custody, Plaintiff was arraigned in Kings County Criminal Court, charged with crimes Defendant Police Officers had no basis to allege that she committed, and released from custody on her own recognizance.
