During the unlawful arrest, the defendant officers physically restrained Mr. Breland, violently contorting his arms behind his back and placing handcuffs on him in an extremely tight fashion, which caused Mr. Breland to sustain substantial physical pain and injuries to his arms, hands and wrists. \n\nMr. Breland was transported to Police Service Area 2, where he was again subject to excessive force by being slammed facedown to the concrete pavement, causing additional injuries to his face and shoulders. While he was in unlawful custody, the defendants signed and forwarded a criminal complaint in which they falsely accused Mr. Clarke of committing a criminal offense.
