Plaintiff decided to oblige because he was curious. On September 5, 2013, Plaintiff called Detective Jurewictz, who asked Plaintiff to come into the 76th Precinct but refused to tell Plaintiff what he wanted to talk about. Unbeknownst to Plaintiff, Detective Jurewictz was in the process of framing Plaintiff for a robbery he did not commit in order to impress his superiors at the NYPD. On September 5, 2013, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Plaintiff arrived at the 76th Precinct. Detective Jurewictz questioned Plaintiff about the robbery he did not commit. Without probable cause or any legal justification, Detective Jurewictz placed Plaintiff under arrest for that robbery. Plaintiff was handcuffed and strip searched. No drugs, weapons, or contraband of any kind were recovered from Plaintiff. Detective Jurewictz and other NYPD officers provided false information to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, on the basis of which a prosecution was initiated. Plaintiff was unlawfully detained for several hours until he was arraigned and charged with several felony and misdemeanor crimes. Plaintiff was unlawfully detained at Riker’s Island from September 5, 2013, through January 3, 2014, at which time he was released on his own recognizance. Officers included Officers Benigno Gonzalez, Brett Healy, James Wilson, and Thomas Jurewicz. They were looking for a badge that an officer had lost earlier that afternoon in the arrest of an unrelated party. Officers pushed Plaintiff Beauford when they entered and dragged Plaintiff Simmons into the hallway. They told Plaintiff Lawyer that an officer lost the badge and demanded he return it. Plaintiff Lawyer told Officers that he didn't have it but was searched anyway. When they left, Plaintiff Lawyer called an ambulance for Plaintiff Simmons who had been injured due to the officers' use of excessive force, and was treated at a medical center. Later, the officers returned to the residence and arrested Plaintiff Simmons and Plaintiff Beauford without cause, transported them to the police station,  and then transported them to central booking. [At a time not specified by the complaint,] Plaintiff Beauford was led out the \"back door\" while Plaintiff Simmons was released at arraignment.\n\nOfficers told Plaintiff Lawyer that if he turned himself in, they would release Simmons and Beauford. His name and picture were broadcast extensively on TV and in newspapers as a suspect in the badge theft. On June 24, 2013, Plaintiff Lawyer turned himself although he did not commit any crimes.
