Mr. Harold Thompson got into Mr. Clinton Thompson's car to provide Clinton the money he owed him for rent. As Harold was exiting the car, an unmarked police car pulled up next to Clinton's car. Two officers exited the car, and officer Hernandez pushed Harold up against the car, searched him, and placed him under arrest despite having found nothing. \n\nThe officers then searched Clinton's car and falsely accused him of having heroin residue in a straw they found in his car. The officers also arrested Clinton and placed both plaintiffs in a police van that had arrived. They were driven for about an hour and a half, during which Harold asked for the handcuffs to be loosened as they were too tight and causing him neck and wrist pain. The officers ignored his requests. \n\nAfter arriving at the precinct, Officer Hernandez charged the plaintiffs with criminal possession of a controlled substance, which required Clinton and Harold to appear in court on three separate occasions.
