Officers arrived at the apartment to investigate a domestic violence issue. While Aponte was talking to officers at his front door, Officer Kanbur slammed Aponte against a wall and placed him in a chokehold. As Kanbur was strangling Aponte, Officer Kanbur's partner grabbed Aponte's right arm. Witnesses report that the officers were told frame Aponte as the instigator in the incident report.
