When he arrived though, Instead of releasing his properties to him, defendant officers arrested Plaintiff and interrogated him asking him questions about other people and\nincidents. Plaintiff duly informed defendant officers that he was at the precinct to pick up his properties as agreed and Defendant officers in response assaulted Plaintiff forcibly grabbing, punching, pushing, pulling, kicking, and shoving him. Plaintiff sustained serious injuries from the assault and was transported to the hospital where he was seen and/or treated for his injuries. They then performed a search on him which did not recover any contraband, but they still continued to detain Plaintiff. The officers also falsely stated to the prosecutors that the plaintiff committed ‘Obstructing governmental administration in the second degree’ and ‘Resisting arrest’ and then falsified police reports, which caused Plaintiff to be criminally charged. Six months later, the court concluding that there was no probable cause to arrest and/or prosecute the plaintiff summarily dismissed the false charges levied against the plaintiff.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nyed.468444/gov.uscourts.nyed.468444.17.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/60219237/holley-v-the-city-of-new-york/"},{"name":"Underwood, Darnell, et al. vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2015-01-06","disposition_date":"2018-07-30","payout_amount":85000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"14CV07531","court":"U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY","officer_name":"Segerdahl, Peter","summary":"On August 5, 2015, the Plaintiff Darnell Underwood was walking on the sidewalk when a defendant police officer called out to him “David.” Darnell ignored the call and kept walking. A defendant officer came up behind him, grabbed him, and yelled “don’t fucking move!” Defendant officers, including Delacruz, Gonzalez, and Nowak beat Darnell with a nightstick and struck him in the head, ribs, knee, and back. Plaintiff Richard Underwood came down the street when he heard Darnell was being beaten and witnessed Delacruz, Gonazales, Nowak and Segerdahl throwing Darnell around and hitting him with the nightstick and heard Darnell scream “Help me!” Defendant officers tried to take Richard’s smartphone and several police officers, including Cornejo and Leonardi surrounded him. An officer grabbed and twisted Richard’s arm and an officer threatened to beat him. Officers, including Cornejo and Leonardi, handcuffed Richard and brought him to the 79th precinct and charged with disorderly conduct. \n\nRichard’s case was adjourned in contemplation of dismissal. Darnell was brought to the station house without shoes. He asked for a drink of water but his request was refused and an officer punched him in the head. Darnell was placed in a straightjacket and brought to the hospital. Later he was released and the charges against him were dismissed.","documents":[{"url":"https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4922530-Underwood-et-al-v-City-of-New-York-et-al"},{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nyed.364616.34.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4323986/underwood-v-city-of-new-york/"},{"name":"Clarke, Tre and Eaves, Eunique vs P.O. The personnel included individual defendants Officer Peter Segerdahl and Sergeant Nicholas Kuliecza, along with John Doe 2 through 4. Plaintiffs were wearing completely different clothing from the description provided in the report. However, without probable cause or reasonable suspicion of any crime, they were ordered from the automobile, which was searched with their consent. The officers did not discover anything unlawful. Nonetheless, plaintiffs were arrested by the officers, one of whom appeared to be the supervisor, and taken to the 88th Precinct. \n\nThere, the officers prepared or allowed to be prepared false police reports of Plaintiffs drinking rum although they did not observe Plaintiffs with alcoholic beverages. Approximately six or seven hours later, Plaintiffs were taken to Brooklyn Central Booking to await arraignment. During that time, Officer Segerdahl made, and another defendant allowed him to make, false statements to the Kings County DA's Office, which caused Plaintiffs to be prosecuted on the false charge of consumption of alcohol in public. After approximately twenty-four hours in custody, Plaintiffs were arraigned on false charges, released, and required—under threat of issuance of an arrest warrant and of arrest—to appear in Criminal Court. At the next court appearance, the cases were dismissed and sealed on the motion of the Kings County DA.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nyed.349989/gov.uscourts.nyed.349989.9.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4323032/clarke-v-segerdahl/"}],"documents":[{"url":"https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21028722-segerdahl-f6410cb03a0632acc35a2c7324355b296b16bcc6","type":"brady-giglio","lawsuits":["09CV1317","11CV4165"]}],"image":"https://www.50-a.org/images/officer/VZXZ-peter-segerdahl.jpg","payroll":{"salary":"118056","regular":"117719","overtime":"7742","other":"20382","total":"145844"},"id":"VZXZ","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/VZXZ"}
