The defendants ordered him to pull over, and when he exited his car, they harshly slammed him against the car, handcuffed him, and brought him to a prisoner van. At the van, one defendant officer intentionally slammed the door into Mr. Ward's face, and when the defendants forced him into the van, his head slammed against one of the seats and his lip was sliced by a metal object protruding from the seat. Inside the van, the defendants invasively searched Mr. Ward's body, which included pulling down his pants and manipulating his genitals. Mr. Ward was then brought to a police precinct, where he was refused medical treatment after requesting it due to pain and injuries he suffered during the arrest. After the precinct, Mr. Ward was taken to Brooklyn Central Booking, and only then was he brought to a hospital for treatment (before being returned to Central Booking). After 24 hours in custody, Mr. Ward was released from Central Booking without any explanation for why he had been arrested.
