While Mr. Morse was out of his vehicle filming Police activity, he was told by the defendant police officers to stop filming. Mr. Morse responded that it was his right to do so. He was then tackled to the ground by the officers sustaining personal injuries. The defendant officers then proceeded to give Mr. Morse a traffic ticket, used physical force against him by tackling him to the ground, which was unnecessary and unjustified. The officers then searched Mr. Morse without his consent and without reasonable suspicion, probable cause or other justification. The officers also forcibly handcuffed and arrested Mr. Morse and thereafter kept him imprisoned at various locations, including a police precinct and Central Booking, without a warrant and without probable cause. \n\nOn or about April 24, 2022, the defendant officers also caused Mr. Morse to be maliciously prosecuted, causing him to be charged with crimes of which he was innocent, and of which the officers knew they would not prevail at trial because the\ncharges were false. Mr. Morse was incarcerated for a period of approximately 24 hours. Thereafter, on or about April 25, 2022 the plaintiff was notified that the New York County District Attorney's Office had declined to prosecute charges against him. The officers used their bicycles as weapons, pushing the protestors back. Protestors were trapped and unable to leave, and NYPD (including Monahan and Lehr) failed to respond to their pleas. Per order of Monahan, Plaintiff Jones was grabbed, seized, chocked, and thrown to the ground by PO Wilson. PO Doe 1 assisted in the arrest, and both him and PO Wilson put their full weight on Plaintiff Jones while she was faced down on the ground, not resisting. After removing her from the ground, the Defendants placed her in extremely tight zip ties/flex cuffs. Plaintiff Jones was falsely charged with resisting arrest, and was denied food, water, and a phone call. At the same time, Plaintiff Williams was violently attacked, unprovoked. PO Does 2-7 tackled Plaintiff Williams to the ground and struck her head with a baton. Monahan/Lehr was also believed to have approved of her arrest, and did nothing to prevent the excessive use of force. Plaintiff Williams was bleeding and in need of immediate medical attention, but was instead sent to the precinct to be searched and charged. Additionally, Plaintiff Roman was not committing any crime when a PO struck the Plaintiff in the head with a baton. Plaintiff Roman was thrown to the ground and placed in very tight flex cuffs/zip ties. The zip ties were so tight that Plaintiff Roman's hands/fingers started to change color from lack of circulation. Again, Monahan/Lehr approved of the arrest and did not prevent the excessive use of force. The Plaintiff was not given food, water, or a phone call either. He was detained for more than 10 hours.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.570820/gov.uscourts.nysd.570820.1.1.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/61577573/jones-v-the-city-of-new-york/"},{"name":"Jenkins, Tyshiem vs City of Ny, et al.","start_date":"2021-01-15","disposition_date":"2022-03-24","payout_amount":12500,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"800655/2021E","court":"Supreme Court - Bronx","summary":"On June 7, 2020, was without just cause, probable cause or provocation handcuffed, stopped, frisked, seized and arrested in an excessive manner with excessive force by NYPD Defendant Officers Niazul HAQUE and to unnamed NYPD officer Defendants in the Bronx.
