Detective Dean Campbell and Sergeant Joseph Cruzado, along with other officers, entered the apartment without a warrant, detained Plaintiff, and conducted a illegal search inside plaintiff’s pockets, inside of the waistband of his pants and underneath his clothing employed by defendants. At no point in time did the police recover any drugs, guns or contraband from Plaintiff at the precinct. Plaintiff was not found with any contraband, but officers still falsely arrested and detained him. \n\nFollowing the arrest, Plaintiff was transported to the 81st Precinct and later to Brooklyn Central Booking.\n\nThe officers allegedly provided false information to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, leading to Plaintiff’s malicious prosecution. Defendants signed false and misleading criminal court affidavits and forwarded them to prosecutors in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. \n Plaintiff was unable to post bail, resulting in his detention at Rikers Island until he was released on bail four days later on September 9, 2014. The charges against Plaintiff were eventually dismissed and sealed on March 27, 2015.\n\nThose officers that did not touch Plaintiff failed to intervene and protect him from being illegally seized, maliciously prosecuted, and denied the right to a fair trial.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=rJJFas3PiPp6t5lwFygDgQ==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Regan, Ronald vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2016-11-07","disposition_date":"2018-02-14","payout_amount":82500,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"16CV06098","court":"U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY","officer_name":"Campbell, Dean","summary":"The plaintiff was approached by the defendant officers who were dressed in plain clothes, detained and assaulted. Officers ordered plaintiff to get on his knees and put his hands behind his back and complied. Officers then forced his face to the ground, punched and kicked him in the arms. Plaintiff was asked to exit the vehicle; he complied. Without probable cause, the officers searched plaintiff’s vehicle. Even though the officers did not recover any illegal drugs, weapons, or contraband of any kind, they handcuffed and arrested Plaintiff. Plaintiff was placed in the back of a police van, but the officers negligently failed to secure Plaintiff with a seatbelt. While the police van was stopped at a red light, it was struck from behind by another vehicle, causing Plaintiff to be thrown out of his seat and land face first on the floor. Plaintiff suffered injuries to his face, arms, wrists, shoulders, back, and neck. Thereafter, another police van arrived at the scene and transported Plaintiff to the 79th Precinct. Plaintiff was placed in a holding cell. Eventually EMS arrived to treat his injuries. The officers falsely stated to the Kings County District Attorney’s Office that Plaintiff had committed a crime, on the basis of which a prosecution against him was initiated. Plaintiff was transported to Brooklyn Central Booking. After approximately 24 hours in custody, Plaintiff was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. Thereafter, Plaintiff received further medical treatment for his physical injuries at a hospital. The prosecution and criminal proceedings were eventually terminated in Plaintiff’s favor.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=/nBubWln8iC/IbZc_PLUS_CSGnQ==","type":"complaint"}]},{"officer_name":"Campbell, Dean","disposition":"Settlement","start_date":"2012-09-24","disposition_date":"2013-06-20","court":"Supreme Court - Kings","docket":"018506/2012","name":"Echevarria, Iris as Mng Rodriguez, Victor, et Al vs City of New York, et al.","payout_amount":65000},{"name":"Peart v.
