Plaintiff waited for hours more before being arraigned in the afternoon of July 20, 2018. Plaintiff was prosecuted on false criminal charges by defendant officers, which required her presence at more than half-dozen court appearances to defend against them. They were stopped by NYPD officers Abraham Sanabria and Daniel Perrino, who demanded the safe be opened.  Mr. Divyn explained that the safe was his and contained valuables, but that he could not open it because of water damage to the safe's the digital lock mechanism.  Mr. Divyn offered to retrieve documents proving that he owned the safe, but the officers refused to allow this and instead, arrested plaintiffs and transported them to the 61st precinct.  At the precinct, the safe was opened without consent or a warrant, revealing no contraband.  Despite this, the officers falsely claimed to have found a firearm inside and charged the plaintiffs with Burglary, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.  Additionally, while at the precinct, Mr. Brown was thrown to the ground and repeatedly kicked and punched by the officers, and denied medical attention.  Plaintiffs were detained at Rikers Island for five days.
