The officers, acting on fraudulent information, allegedly stopped, searched, grabbed, assaulted, and detained Garwood in an aggressive and excessive manner. Despite not engaging in any illegal or suspicious activity, Garwood was arrested, arraigned, and falsely prosecuted for a crime he did not commit. As a result, he was incarcerated for over 24 hours and had to attend multiple court appearances before the charges were dismissed. The incident caused Garwood significant physical and emotional pain, and he claims that the officers acted recklessly and maliciously. Additionally, the complaint points to broader failures by the City and NYPD in the hiring, training, and supervision of the involved officers and highlights systemic abuses under the City's \"Stop and Frisk\" policies. Garwood seeks damages for the violation of his constitutional rights and for the harm he endured.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=k6s6A71J0MfWtHyswha2nQ==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Alvarado, Jonathan vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2019-06-13","disposition_date":"2022-07-26","payout_amount":30000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"026660/2019E","court":"Supreme Court - Bronx","officer_name":"Lustica, Theresa","summary":"On November 1, 2018, Mr. Alvarado was in the process of buying some food in the vicinity of 2396 Morris Avenue.
