The officers were wearing civilian clothing and did not provide a reason for stopping the vehicle. The plaintiffs were ordered to get out of the car and were then handcuffed and transported to the 52nd Precinct. At the precinct, one of the plaintiffs was assaulted by a prisoner in the presence of NYPD officers, who failed to intervene. Plaintiffs were falsely charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Officer O’Connell signed a false complaint with the intent to prosecute plaintiffs for crimes he knew they did not commit. The officers also gave false statements to the District Attorney’s Office and submitted false police reports. POs did this solely to pressure Plaintiff into providing information regarding her brother who was involved in narcotics sales, not because they reasonably believed Plaintiff had committed a crime. POs then unlawfully entered and search Plaintiff's apartment. Plaintiff was unlawfully handcuffed and taken to the 52nd Precinct where she was criminally processed and held for several hours then taken to Central Booking. POs provided false information to initiate a malicious prosecution against Plaintiff, again in an attempt to gain information regarding Plaintiff's brother.
