The officers began searching the apartment without permission or authority. During the search of the apartment, plaintiff Angela Peay came home to the apartment, and she was handcuffed as well.  All four plaintiffs persons were searched, and no contraband or anything illegal was found.\n\nThe police officers transported all four plaintiffs to the 75th precinct against their will, where they were unlawfully photographed, fingerprinted and detained in a holding cell. After approximately 30 hours in unlawful custody, the plaintiffs were arraigned and charged with criminal possession of a firearm. Plaintiff Ashanti Crosland was able to make bail, but two other plaintiffs were detained at Rikers Island. Plaintiffs have spent fees on legal defense and plaintiff Ashanti Crossland even lost her pregnancy due to stress.
