The officers asked for his identification, and he provided his license, insurance card, and his Patrolmen's Benevolent Association Card. He was ordered out of the vehicle, and he asked Sergeant Williams why he was being detained and indicated that he knew of her through his wife, who worked for the police department. Instead of responding, Williams sprayed mace in the plaintiff's face and eyes and the other officers, including Nazaire, attacked him with their batons, and punched and kicked him repeatedly.  The plaintiff repeatedly requested medical attention for the bleeding from his face and head and the pain in his hands, face, and head, but he was transported between Brookdale Hospital and the 73rd Precinct two times, rather than immediately going to the hospital. Once he was finally treated at the hospital, it was discovered that he had broken fingers and open wounds to his face and head that required stitches and staples. \nThe following day Speights was arraigned on eight charges, seven of which were indictable, and he pled not guilty. He was unable to post bail and was transported to Rikers Island. Williams and Nazair provided fraudelent testimony to the grand jury to indict the plaintiff. On January 8, after the plaintiff testified, the DA failed to indict him on any of the indictable charges, leaving only one misdemeanor charge remaining. On February 8, 2011 all charges against the plaintiff were terminated favorably.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nyed.340014/gov.uscourts.nyed.340014.8.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4322462/speights-v-city-of-new-york/"}],"image":"https://www.50-a.org/images/officer/XSHD-tolentino-nazaire.jpg","id":"XSHD","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/XSHD"}
