In April of 2018, Apple caused to be detained an individual it believed to be plaintiff based on a learner’s permit that was likely a copy of plaintiff's. This imposter continued to commit thefts for the next two years. On November 29, 2018, in reliance upon false identification provided by Apple and SIS, Detectives John Reinhold, Pagan, White, Granata, and Pattelli arrested plaintiff. The warrant issued for plaintiff's arrest contained a photo of the impostor, who in no way resembled plaintiff.
