Description: On March 24, 2012, NYPD Officers observed unknown individuals throwing items off the roof a building and detained 6-8 individuals as they left that building without any good faith basis to believe any of those individuals had been involved. Plaintiffs were among the individuals initially seized and placed into handcuffs. The detainees were being placed into a police van when more items were thrown from the roof. Officers then unlawfully arrested two additional Plaintiffs. When Plaintiff LaKeath Berrian asked the officers to explain their actions he was tacked, assaulted, and arrested.
