Complaint
Description: On August 11, 2019, Plaintiff was speaking to his cousin while on the sidewalk in Kings County, New York. NYPD Officers Joseph, Arias, and Lt. Daverin tackled Plaintiff forcefully from behind into a gate, causing Plaintiff to hit his head on the gate. Plaintiff sustained cuts on his neck, arms, and back. The officers were not in uniform, did not announce themselves as law enforcement, and did not display their badges. Plaintiff asked why he was tackled; the officer replied “shut the fuck up and turn around.” Plaintiff was then referred to with racial slurs. Plaintiff was incarcerated for approximately 24 hours. His case was dismissed November 13, 2019.
