Description: On August 15, 2014, Defendant Lt. Mauvin Bute and additional Defendant officers forcibly entered Plaintiff's home. They frisked Plaintiff, threatening & cursing at him, removed him to the hallway outside his apartment, handcuffed him, and searched his apartment. During this search, officers removed $8000 from Plaintiff's home. Plaintiff was then transferred to the 67th Precinct, where Defendant Bute & other Defendant officers repeatedly struck & kicked Plaintiff on his head and body. Based on false statements by Bute, Defendant PO Andreas Sargent, & others, Plaintiff was criminally prosecuted; this criminal case was terminated in his favor and dismissed on April 17, 2015.

Description: On June 15, 2012, PO Andreas Sargent and Lieutenant Mauvin Bute were present near the scene of arrest in an unmarked NYPD vehicle. Then, without any reasonable basis or probable cause for doing so, police officers approached, stopped, searched and detained Plaintiff. The search yielded no evidence of any guns, drugs, or contraband, but the officers nevertheless arrested Plaintiff. Sergeant Rich arrived at the scene and supervised the arrest.
