Schneorson, Shalom vs City of New York, et al.
Case # 14CV00128, U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY, January 23, 2014, ended October 6, 2014
$20,000 Settlement
Complaint
Description: On December 26, 2012, plaintiff encountered a broken window at his office located in Brooklyn, NY, and reported his suspicion that resident David Baksht was responsible. Subsequently, NYPD Officer Johanna Jimenez and additional officers arrived on the scene. Baksht countered by accusing plaintiff of stealing around $20,000 in cash and other items from Baksht's apartment. Despite the dubious nature of Baksht's claims and plaintiff's denials, he was arrested and subjected to approximately 10 hours of detention before arraignment on numerous charges, including burglary and grand larceny. All charges were eventually dismissed on June 28, 2013.
