Description: On May 25, 2018, while plaintiff Jennifer Romero was a guest at a home in Queens County, she was awakened, handcuffed, and searched by P.O. Ryan Courten. She was removed from the home and taken to a precinct for numerous, then transported to Queens Central Booking where she was detained for several more hours prior to being released. Plaintiff was charged with numerous crimes including possession of marijuana, possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and use of drug paraphernalia. Description: On August 19, 2017, plaintiffs were staying over at a friend's house when defendant police officers entered the residence in riot gear in the early morning. They falsely arrested plaintiffs and transported them to the precinct where they were subjected to an invasive search. Plaintiffs were falsely charged with various offenses based on false allegations made by defendant police officers. Plaintiffs were detained on Rikers Island for an extended period of time before all charges were dismissed on August 24, 2017.
