Description: On July 20, 2011, at approximately 2:45 p.m., plaintiff was arrested without probable cause by NYPD Detective Felix Ortiz and other officers in East Harlem, Manhattan. He was driven around in a police prisoner van, handcuffed the entire time, while the officers made additional arrests. He was then taken to the 23rd precinct, where he was subjected to a degrading body cavity strip search. He was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree based on false allegations by Detective Ortiz that he observed plaintiff selling heroin. Plaintiff was unable to make bail and had to remain incarcerated until July 26, 2011.
The case against him was finally dismissed on February 9, 2012.

Description: On May 21, 2014, Plaintiff had just left a Family Dollar store when Officer Thomas Wright grabbed him, threw him against the wall and kicked his legs to cause Plaintiff's legs to be spread apart. Officer Wright engaged in an impermissible search of Plaintiff's person, reaching into Plaintiff's pockets. He found no weapons or contraband, but did find money that Plaintiff had just retrieved from the bank.
