Complaint
Description: On June 23, 2012, Plaintiff Anwar Burris alleges he was unlawfully stopped and falsely arrested in Queens by Officer Daniel Brandi, and then prosecuted, because of his skin color. Mr. Burris was acquitted at trial for unlawful possession of a firearm that Officer Brandi alleged was dropped by Burris. Mr. Burris makes a number of claims, including false arrest, malicious prosecution, violation of his equal protection rights as a member of a protected class. The complaint also indicates a malicious prosecution or abuse of process claim as well although none of the allegations in the Complaint are alleged with specific counts.
