Description: On June 27, 2018, plaintiff was inside of his cousin's car with his cousin and friends. His cousin was in the driver's seat and the engine was on. Officers pulled up and told them they were stopped because the car was in front of a fire hydrant. The officers falsely claimed they smelled marijuana and then asked them all for identification. Plaintiffs cousin gave permission to search the car. When officers searched the trunk, plaintiff took issue as they could not see the search and officers could plant contraband.
