Complaint
Description: On March 12, 2017, Plaintiff Mr. Galarza had a mental health crisis (diagnosed with schizophrenia) and struck his wife, who called the police to have them get him to a hospital. The NYPD arrived and escalated a tense situation, forced a physical confrontation and used excessive force on Mr. Galarza, permanently blinding him in the right eye by shooting a taser (NYPD officers Priolo and veloz). Then NYPD officers beat Mr. Galarza with closed fists causing him to lose consciousness.
