Description: On June 28, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Seedoulph John, Anthony Paul, and Jamaul Peets were unlawfully arrested by NYPD Officers David Grieco, Robert Mayer, Sergeant Damon B. Martin, and other unnamed officers (John Doe 1-10) during the execution of a search warrant at a nearby location. The officers extended their search to the plaintiffs' garage at 644 Hinsdale Street in Brooklyn without a warrant or legal justification. During the search, the officers found a firearm legally registered to Seedoulph John's girlfriend and subsequently charged the plaintiffs with various firearm and marijuana-related offenses. Description: On or about March 27, 2014, the two Plaintiffs were at one of the Plaintiff’s cousin’s house when several police officers rushed into the premises with guns drawn and flashlights, screaming and instructing everyone to freeze. Officers immediately grabbed one of the Plaintiffs, banged his head against a wall, and then threw him to the floor. One of the officers thereafter placed one of his feet on the head of Plaintiff, applying excessive and unnecessary pressure to his head with an intent to injure him. Description: On or around January 3, 2013, Plaintiff went to visit his newborn cousin on the third floor of his aunt’s apartment building. Officers forced the superintendent to open the vacant second floor apartment and another officer barged into his aunt’s apartment on the third floor and searched it. Plaintiff’s aunt repeatedly requested a warrant, and the officers failed to provide one. A detective from the second floor instructed officers on the third floor to bring Plaintiff downstairs, where Plaintiff was assaulted, slammed to the wall, and arrested. Plaintiff was taken to the 75th Precinct then on to Central Booking. All charges against Plaintiff were dismissed.

Officers arrested plaintiffs before searching the garage and when one Plaintiff asked to see a warrant, officers assaulted him and searched the garage, recovering a lawfully registered firearm. Plaintiffs were brought to the 75th precinct and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third & Fourth Degree; Criminal Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Pistol Ammunition; and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Charges against all Plaintiffs were later dismissed.
