Complaint
Description: Mr. Pogosian was assembling peacefully on the corner of 42nd Street and 5th Avenue on August 13, 2017 when police officers suddenly grabbed him and threw him on the ground. The officers flex-cuffed Mr. Pogosian very tightly and the cuffs tightened even more as he was being placed into a police car. Mr. Pogosian screamed out in pain and asked for the flex cuffs to be loosened, but the officers ignored him. He suffered serious injuries to his wrists, forehead, knees, chest, and ribs as a result of the incident. Mr. Pogosian was arrested and transported to the 7th precinct where he was detained for about 5 hours. He was eventually released with a desk appearance ticket.

Description: On the evening of June 22, 2015 the plaintiff participated in a vigil and march organized by Millions March NYC, which is affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement. As police vehicles went by, the plaintiff made a gesture of defiance at them. A vehicle stopped and defendant officers chased down the plaintiff, pushed her down, and arrested her for Walk on Roadway with Available Sidewalk and Disorderly Conduct. The charges were dismissed later on.
