$17,500 Settlement
Complaint
Description: On July 6, 2012, plaintiff lawfully entered the 62nd precinct for the purpose of filing paperwork. As she entered, she was arrested by Officer Capobianco and handcuffed. He then searched her and confiscated her medication that was prescribed. She was then placed in a cell for over seven hours and then taken to central booking. Once there, her glasses were taken away and she was placed in a cell with an unusable toilet, no toilet paper, and infested with bugs. She was deprived of all food, water and her medication. She spent 12 hours there. Plaintiff then had to appear in court five times and was subjected to surprised home visits from officers in the same precinct. On May 6, 2013 all charges were dismissed.
