Description: On September 22, 2012, at approximately 11:30 P.M., plaintiff was walking to a store in the Bronx when NYPD officers stopped and searched him for allegedly stealing a phone. Despite explaining that he found the phone, officers arrested him and took him to the 44th precinct, where he was strip-searched and forced to pull his pants down, bend over, and spread his cheeks. Plaintiff spent approximately 8 hours in custody before being released without seeing a judge or any charged being brought against him.

Description: On June 2, 2011 Plaintiff Freddie Charles was exiting a bodega near E 167th St and Clay Ave in the Bronx when he was shoved from behind by one of the defendant officers. Plaintiff was then immediately put in handcuffs that were excessively tight and transported to the precinct. No officers responded to his requests to loosen the handcuffs. Defendant officers, including officer Maria Brito, then falsified reports of disorderly conduct, obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest which the DA declined to prosecute. Plaintiff was held in custody for over 30 hours.
