Description: Around 5:00 pm on August 27, 2015, Mr. Asbury was driving his car with two friends when Officer Whirl ordered him to pull over. Officer Whirl ordered all 3 individuals to get out of the car. Other officers arrived and proceeded to search them, their belongings, and Mr. Asbury's care without cause. After searching for about 30 minutes, the officers arrested Mr. Asbury and his two friends and seized his car.
His car was then sold at auction by the NYPD. Mr. Asbury was detained for about 48 hours before he was released and indicted for various violations. All of the charges were dismissed, but he suffered severe monetary losses from his car and from retaining counsel to defend him.
