Description: On July 24, 2021, Ms. York attended a protest. NYPD officers surrounded the protesters on all sides and played a recording stating that protesters must disperse. NYPD Officer Jorge Garcia pushed Ms. York, who verbally expressed to Garcia that she couldn't move because she was trapped. Garcia ignored this information and continued pushing Ms. York on her shoulders and chest. At some point, an NYPD supervisor gave a command to arrest the protesters. Garcia and Officer John Doe 1 grabbed Ms. York and threw her onto the street, which caused her to fall and lose her cane. Description: On February 24, 2021, Plaintiff Bredder attended a protest demonstrating against the failure to charge police officers who were involved in the death of an individual who had experienced a mental health episode, Daniel Prude. This protest followed many others in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. The protest took place in McCarren Park in Brooklyn, at or around 7:00pm, with a march scheduled for 8:00pm.
