Description: On August 22, 2019, NYPD LT. Eric Dym falsely arrested Monae Grant ("Plaintiff") and used excessive and unreasonable force. Plaintiff was sitting her friends on a bench outside of her apartment building known as the JOhn Adam Houses. Defendant Dym scared Plaintiff into providing identification without having any legal authority to do so. Defendant Dym grabbed Plaintiff and pulled her right arm up behind her body beyond the point where it could move freely. Plaintiff was transported to the NYPD's Public Service Area 7 Precinct. Description: On August 22, 2019, plaintiff was lawfully in the vicinity of 721 Tinton Avenue, Bronx, when defendant police officers, without any probable cause or legal justification other than plaintiff's race, approached plaintiff and stopped, questioned, grabbed, and restrained plaintiff. Defendants then arrested plaintiff with tight handcuffs, causing substantial pain. Plaintiff was then transported to a police precinct, where he was processed and searched.
