Description: On February 18, 2017, at around 6:15a.m., plaintiff was sleeping inside of his apartment when defendant officers unlawfully forced their way into plaintiff’s apartment, as well as 6 other apartment units. They did not have valid search warrant or any legal justification to enter plaintiff’s apartment—they searched the apartment complex based on information provided by a Confidential Informant.
Defendant officers intentionally obtained an overly broad search warrant to search the entire apartment building at 482 Monroe St. and did not inform the judge that the search warrant was not for a private one family home. Description: On August 13, 2016, plaintiff was pulled over by defendants for an alleged traffic violation and ordered to exit the vehicle. Defendants arrested plaintiff for possession of a lit marijuana cigarette found inside the vehicle. Defendants handcuffed, arrested and transported plaintiff to 79th precinct, where he was held in custody for several hours. The DA's office ultimately declined to prosecute the case.
