Description: On September 8, 2016, defendant officers arrived at Mr. Holmes's residence to ask about a supposedly stolen laptop, but he was not home. The next day, the officers called Mr. Holmes and threatened him with 4 years in prison if he did not surrender the "stolen" laptop he was in possession of, as it supposedly belonged to the Department of Defense.
The officers called and threatened Mr. Holmes every day through October 2016. Eventually, defendant Caballero sent a letter to Mr. Holmes's attorney stating they were going to arrest Mr. Holmes and he should surrender himself. The intimidation continued for another few months and NYPD ultimately took possession of his laptop. The case was dismissed in June 2017, but ...
