Description: On September 17, 2012, journalist John Knefel was arrested without lawful authority while observing a police response to an Occupy Wall Street-related assembly in Manhattan, despite displaying press credentials. He was thrown to the ground, handcuffed, and detained for about four hours before being released with a Desk Appearance Ticket. The District Attorney's Office later declined to prosecute. Knefel suffered physical and emotional injuries due to the arrest.
