Description: On September 13, 2021, Plaintiffs Anees Hasnain and Luis Mejia were peacefully participating in a protest near the Metropolitan Museum of Art when they were unlawfully detained and arrested by Defendant NYPD officers. Officer Albergo violently grabbed Plaintiff Hasnain's head, slamming her to the ground, causing her to lose consciousness and sustain a concussion. Simultaneously, Plaintiff Mejia was dragged to the ground and injured, with his arm forcibly extended, causing damage to his left elbow and arm. Both plaintiffs were handcuffed excessively tightly and arrested without probable cause.
