Description: On May 14, 2018, Samuel Rivera was walking through the Marlboro Projects in Brooklyn on his way to a barbecue when NYPD officers, including Officer Tyler Stavis, approached him and falsely accused him of assaulting a woman, Lauren Giordano. Although Ms. Giordano immediately denied that Rivera had hit her, Officer Stavis arrested Rivera and falsely claimed to the Kings County District Attorney's Office that he had seen Rivera punch her in the face. Rivera was detained for approximately one day before being released on his own recognizance. The charges against Rivera were dismissed on December 14, 2018.
