Description: On June 4, 2020, NYPD orchestrated an operation to corral, "kettle," assault, and arrest non-violent protestors in Mott Haven who were exercising their first amendment right to protest against police brutality and racial injustice.
Plaintiffs Amira and Samali Sierra were seized by a group of officers who threw them to the ground, handcuffed them with excessively tight zip ties, were made to wait hours sitting on the ground until Officer Umid Karimov put them on a bus to an arrest processing facility where Officer Alfredo Jeff identified himself as their arresting officer and put them in a holding cell without food, water, toilet paper, or other sanitary necessities and was ultimately issued a pink summons by...
